Dr Holowaty is a graduate of the University of Toronto, where she completed a PhD in Molecular Virology in 2004, and an MD in 2008. She completed her family medicine training at the University of Toronto from the rural medicine residency program in January of 2011. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Queen's University and Lecturer at the University of Ottawa in the Departments of Family Medicine. She is a Certificant of the International Society of Addiction Medicine and a Diplomate (2017) of the Canadian Academy of Pain Management.
She offers full family medicine care including well child, office procedures, prenatal care, care of the elderly and palliative medicine. She has special interests in chronic pain, addiction and palliative care. She prescribes suboxone and methadone for the treatment of opiat use disorder, medical treatment for alcohol use disorder, and provides treatment for hepatitis C.
She is currently a member of the Addiction Medicine Program Committee of the CFPC and an OMA delegate for District 6.
